Outpatient physical therapy specializing in sports orthopedics, musculoskeletal injuries, post surgical rehabilitation, and manual therapy to the spine and extremities for clients of all ages.

Other areas of specialty include:

  • Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a hands on approach to joint and soft tissue dysfunction for complete restoration of function and pain relief. In the state of Colorado, physical therapists are able to perform joint mobilization as well as manipulation as indicated with appropriate training. Both Nicole and Finn are educated and experienced in manual therapy techniques sharing a common philosophy in evidence based practice.

  • Real Time Ultrasound Imaging (RTUI)

Real time ultrasound imaging allows you to see the deepest core muscles while training “motor control”. These deep local muscles act as pelvic and spinal stabilizers through light compression as opposed to force and power generation performed by the larger global muscle group.

Therefore, it is quality of movement, not power output that is visualized when training with RTUS. With this advanced technology, the client is then able to progress their training to accelerated activities connecting the local core muscles to the larger, global muscular system. Training motor control has never been easier!

  • Custom Orthotics

Our evaluation encompasses one hour and includes:

    1. Lower quadrant biomechanical evaluation
From your spine to your toes, we look at posture, range of motion, strength, joint mobility and functional load transfer. Then we give you the tools to improve with individualized exercises dictated by your need.
    2. Video gait analysis
This involves a tri-plane digital video analysis from multiple angles of your gait with onsite frame by frame review and explanation. It’s all about how much, how often and at what time.
    3. Pedograph Analysis
A close chain ink foot print is taken and analyzed. An average adult takes 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day. What kind of load are your feet taking with each step? This tool is a priceless visual aid that shows the loading habits of your feet.
    4. Casting
A case is taken in a semi-weight bearing position to capture your arch in a biomechanically correct position. The orthosis is worn inside your shoe to help improve foot, leg and spine mechanics. Help relieve pain and improve sport performance with this cutting edge technology.

Kinetic Energy PT works together with Sole Supports Inc. in providing the most up to date technology and mechanically correct orthoses available. Visit their web site at www.solesupports.com for further information.

  • Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN)

TDN is a very effective technique for the treatment of myofacial pain and dysfunction. The approach is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. Not to be confused with the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique of acupuncture. (Travell & Simmions 1999)

TDN is a treatment for muscular tightness and spasm which commonly follows injuries and often accompanies the degenerative processes. This muscular tightness and spasm will cause compression and irritation of the nerves exiting the spine. When the nerves are irritated, they cause a protective spasm of all the muscles to which they are connected. This may cause peripheral diagnoses, such as carpel tunnel, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, decreased mobility and chronic pain. TDN needles are inserted in the muscles at the trigger points causing the pain referral. The muscles would then contract and release, improving flexibility of the muscle and decreasing symptoms.

Nicole P. Rabanal PT, CSCS has completed 46 hours of training in this procedure (in addition to over 15 years of experience and education as a licensed physical therapist) as required by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, and is qualified to perform trigger point dry needling.

TDN is not covered by all insurance companies, please call for details.
